We are a multidisciplinary team of psychologists, dentists, nurses and other health professionals, in charge of areas and programs that are related to different factors that affect the physical and mental health of students.
Our focus is to attend to and guide the health needs that may arise during the development of the academic activity of the students, offering a timely and high-quality support service in physical and mental health care, as well as in prevention and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
The mission of Student Health and Wellbeing is to promote lifestyles and ensure the physical well-being, physical and mental health of UC students necessary for the university learning and experience, through the development of promotion, prevention and intervention actions that respond to their needs.
Dental Health Unit: We are a team of dentists, dental assistants and secretaries ready to offer you the best quality of care and teach you about dental care in a warm, humane and welcoming environment. We have the best technology and we make sure that the supplies used in clinical care are of the highest quality. The team is led by Dr. Alejandra Rivas Araya
Mental Health Unit: It has a team of 30 psychologists specialized in university mental health. Its mission is to promote the psychological well-being of UC students, developing promotion, prevention and intervention actions that protect their mental health, facilitating their academic training processes and university experience.
We have two main areas of work: promotion and prevention, and clinical care.
In the area of promotion of psychological well-being and prevention of mental health, it carries out mass dissemination campaigns, talks, training, psychoeducational workshops, training groups, counseling and meeting groups on topics that affect university life, such as anxiety and stress, good sleep, prevention of suicide and emotional suffering, prevention of alcohol and other drug consumption. adapting to change, preventing depression, and building healthy relationships.
In the area of clinical care, brief treatments are provided for students with mild mental health disorders in individual and group care facilities, which can be referred to psychiatric consultation in the UC-Cristhus health network. Students with moderate to severe mental health disorders will be able to receive the assisted referral service, helping them to insert themselves into specialized external care networks.
Physical Wellness Unit: Our mission is to promote well-being and strengthen physical health, at different levels of health promotion and prevention, through strategies that favor healthy behaviors.
We have a clinical care area and agreements that guide and facilitate health care for situations that may arise during the development of academic activity, offering a benefit of coverage in ambulatory and emergency medical care, in agreement with the UC Christus Health Network.
We also have a promotion and prevention area, which promotes healthier lifestyles through various strategies, such as peer education (Peer Health Educators), Sexual Health and Violence Prevention programs, Support for Student Mothers and Fathers and general self-care campaigns on cold prevention, ergonomics, diet, exposure to tobacco smoke, etc. among other topics.
