The Aikido workshop seeks to integrate the university community to the practice of this martial discipline.

Aikido is a modern martial art, created in Japan in the early twentieth century by Morihei Ueshiba O’Sensei. Aikido is a contemporary budo (martial way), which distances itself from traditional martial arts or combat (bugei), because of its philosophical and reflective character, which seeks to control the imbalance present in an aggression, rather than direct confrontation. For this, it moves through the vectors of force and motion, leaving the line of attack, applying spherical rotation and bringing the unbalanced body to rest. It is based on a dialogical attitude of the being with his environment, very typical of the Japanese worldview, which evokes the forces of nature; with these it establishes a link that connects the practitioner with the undulating power of ki (vital principle). Aikido purifies the spirit, mind and body of the individual, working daily on his balance and frustration, which allows him to lead a more harmonious life and to understand conflict as an interdependent dialogue and not as a confrontation.
