The First Aid and Accident Management program aims to provide basic tools to members of the UC Community, to know how to act in case of accidents and deal with them in a useful and quick way. This knowledge and skills will be useful in both university and personal life. The word comes from the Latin Auxilium, which is used to name the relief, shelter or help given to someone in need. It ranges from accident prevention to basic procedural or technical assistance. These are not medical treatments but emergency actions.
They consist of theoretical and practical sessions to learn about the most prevalent accidents and how to handle them as a first aid provider. Here we learn by doing, which is why we seek to carry out dynamic workshops, with the participation of all members. The following topics can be addressed in the workshops:
Practical videos will be available, showing the correct approach to injured persons and risk situations, such as: heat stroke, cardiorespiratory arrest, suffocation by object, wounds and hemorrhages, etc.
