Through the First Year Experience program, the Student Community area seeks to support the transition from high school to university during the first year at UC for all freshmen and freshmen.
The First Year Experience program includes several initiatives:
Digital publication developed in conjunction with different areas of the university, which includes general information on processes, areas, key dates, support resources, maps and other useful data that help facilitate adaptation to the UC. Here you can view and download the UC 2023 Student Handbook. Click here
Online program, available on the Canvas UC platform, which contains useful information, practical data and key dates that will help 1st year students to better integrate into the university and more easily adopt the rhythm of university life. All rookies have access to the Rookie Route and periodically different modules are enabled to review information, carry out activities and learn about future initiatives and events in which you can participate.
Every year, the first issue of Vive la UC magazine is dedicated to the students entering our university. It contains stories, practical information, contests, activity announcements and lots of useful and entertaining information for newcomers. This magazine is distributed both in digital and printed format during the first months of the year.
This is a massive event, held the first week of March, in which the entire university gives a warm reception to first year students. There, young people can learn about different units, services, programs and support resources, contests and entertaining activities. It is also a great opportunity to meet other newcomers from the beginning and start networking and making new friends. We will not anticipate anything else, because the Newcomer’s Welcome is something you have to experience.
We visit all UC campuses to tell the student community about the different support services provided by the DAE-Student Development, announce activities and answer questions.
In this instance, students from different careers and years meet to share experiences, talk about different topics of interest and hold a dialogue with the UC Rector, FEUC president and other university authorities.
The last week of classes of the year we held this entertaining activity, where there are artistic presentations, contests and a lot of good vibes.
